Lodestone News: November 2019

We hope you are having a wonderful fall so far and we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving from Lodestone! We also want thank our community for all your support as we are celebrating 3 years at Lodestone Academy! We couldn’t have done it without you. We have come a long way and excited to share some of our exciting programs and new classes coming up! Click on the links below for details.

Lodestone Highlight - New Classes

We want to highlight three new classes that will be offered starting January:

Morning Classes

  • Description: Students work independently based on their level. Homework is assigned and reviewed each week in class. Home school/charter school students are welcome! Current homeschool partners include iLead, Sage Oaks, and Inspire. We can partner with other homeschools per request!
  • Schedule:
    • Tuesdays, 9-12PM (Ages 5-7): Class focus reading + science; Teacher student ratio 2/10
    • Thursdays, 9-12PM (Ages 8-11): Class focus ELA + writing; Teacher student ratio 1/10
    • Fridays, 9-12PM (Ages 11-14): Class focus expository writing + essay and debate TED Talks selected topics; Teacher student ratio 1/14
    • Wednesdays 9-12PM: Drop-in day, complimentary with one morning registered class. There's no instruction given on this day but a teacher will be present to answer homework related questions. Classroom is open for students to come use the facility to do their homework. Max number of students allowed is 16 per day. Students must reserve a spot one day prior.
    • Private Tutoring – All Subjects: Available for $40 per hour for grades 1-6 and $45 per hour for grades 7-8
  • Cost/Duration: Classes offered in 4-week increments for $150 per month. Workbook and material fees are applicable.
  • Schedule/Dates:
    • Jan 6-31
    • Feb 4-28
    • March 2-27
    • March 30 – May 1 (Closed 1 week for Spring break)
    • May 4-29

Survival Spanish for Adults

  • Description: Introducing our new Spanish class with Mr. Morales! In this fun group class, students will learn basic travel communication and greetings. Learn it's rich culture and customs to get to know the locals. Gain essential vocabulary and everyday conversation.
  • Duration: 4 weeks
  • Time: Saturdays, 9-10:30 AM
  • Schedule:
    • Part 1: 1/11 – 2/1/20
    • Part 2: 2/8 – 2/29/20
  • Cost: $150 for class + materials
  • Registration: Apply online today!  Min enrollment 4, max 14.

ESL for Adults

  • Description: Increase your confidence & ability to communicate in English. Students learn at their own speed through different levels that focus on grammar, vocabulary, writing, reading, listening, and speaking. Gain skills for work place, reunions, meetings and everyday conversation.
  • Duration: 4 weeks
  • Time: Saturdays, 10:45 – 12:15PM
  • Schedule
    • Part 1: 1/11-2/1/20
    • Part 2: 2/8-2/29/20
  • Cost: $150 for class + materials
  • Registration: Apply online today! Min enrollment 4, max 14.
